Medieval XPS House

Part of a project:

Medieval house constructed primarily from XPS foam and cardboard. The lighting system is controlled by an ESP32-C3-WROOM, and is using Adafruit Neopixels LEDs.

Building

The building is made of cardboard and XPS foam, held together with a lot of hot glue.

The roof tiles are cut individually from a piece of old bark, that I found for free in my local forest.

Painting

The painting progress starts with a basecoat of black acrylic paint mixed with Modpodge. XPS foam is relatively fragile by itself, but the Modpodge will harden the surface, and also glue everything together.

Things are looking great, apart from a few broken beams. The wood texture have held up, and looks great with a light drybrusing.

Almost no excact measurements were made during the creation of this house, I just loosely trimmed pieces to size.

The crane-platform is held up with 4 twisted cables, acting as a rope. That allows a small LED to be hidden inside the lantern, which was showcased in a previous post.
